Charles Hodge (1797–1878) was one of the most influential American theologians and biblical scholars of the nineteenth century. For over fifty years, he taught at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he helped shape modern Reformed theology and mentored generations of scholars and ministers. Renowned for his monumental Systematic Theology as well as his classic commentaries on Romans, Ephesians, and the Corinthian epistles, Hodge’s writing is celebrated for its deep scriptural fidelity, rigorous intellectual clarity, and enduring pastoral warmness.
