An intricate story of a child kidnapped at age four, who is miraculously found! Gideon is the long lost heir to the Earl of Radbourne but has grown up on the streets of London. Oh yes, a little rough around the edges but has somehow been successful running a gaming club, although he is not up to the standards of society!! But with the suggestion of Francesca Haughston (the matchmaker who continually shows up in this series!) the heroine Irene Wyngate is asked to help with Gideon's transformation into a gentlemen! Easy you say? Well Irene is such a strong character who grew up in not the best of conditions with her drunken father and unhappy mother. She has no intention of marrying and being miserable! I loved her integrity and how she stands her ground! Of course it is hard not to fall in love with Gideon who is an engaging story with many characters who stand out. The mystery is what really happened to Gideon all those years ago and as these two spend time together, will they find an attraction that cannot be resisted? Candace Camp is one of the best historical writers who always engages my senses with her storylines and emotions between the hero and heroine. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series and I highly recommend this book and really anything this author has written!
