About this ebook

Beneath the stage, a haunting voice calls to her. Above it, a man from her past has come back. And someone wants to destroy them both.

Phoenix Wiley has loved the theater her whole life—the history of it, the magic of it, the way it feels like another world. When a mysterious, spellbinding voice begins calling to her from beneath the Broadway stage, she can't tell if it's a gift or a warning.

Lance Hamilton is back in Phoenix's world as a stage director—and he hasn't forgotten what fate once took from him. He came to do a job. He stayed for her. But nothing backstage is what it appears to be.

As opening night approaches, the sabotage escalates. Someone is determined to destroy the production, the theater, and everyone in it. And the phantom's voice—comfort or danger—may be the only clue that leads them to the truth.

Will Phoenix and Lance unravel the mystery before the curtain falls for the last time?

Nod to THE Phantom — I absolutely adore this author’s “Romancing the Spirit” series! This one strongly takes from “The Phantom of the Opera”--with a singing ??? in the depths of a New York theater—but with the author’s unique spin. Even though this is a novella, the author doesn’t give in to the dreaded information dump that plagues most short-form self-published stories. Rather, the book starts with several scenes showing us what is happening in the lives of several key characters. These don’t seem related or are only loosely so. I don’t always like that technique, but this one knows how to do it well. She brought all the seemingly disparate elements together in a satisfying way that kept me turning the pages. If you enjoy stories with more than a touch of the paranormal—but not a paranormal romance—check out this book, and the rest of the series. I look forward to each one. — I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Book seventeen in the Romancing the Spirit series a well written retelling of the Phantom of the Opera. This is Lance and Phoenix's second chance, there is suspense, drama, danger, a phantom, twists, turns, a villain, and romance. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
