Beryl Pedro is a visual thinking specialist and learning experience designer based in Toronto, Canada. Over the past twelve years, she has helped thousands of students, educators, and professionals transform their approach to learning through sketchnoting. She began developing the Visual Note-Taking Method while pursuing her master's degree in educational psychology, where she noticed that her most effective study sessions all shared one thing: a pen, a blank page, and the freedom to think visually.
Beryl has delivered sketchnoting workshops at universities, corporate retreats, and conferences across North America and Europe. Her clients range from undergraduate students struggling with information overload to executive teams looking for better ways to capture strategy discussions. She is a certified facilitator of the Sketchnote Academy and a regular contributor to the Sketchnote Army blog.
Before specializing in visual learning, Beryl worked as a graphic recorder for major tech companies and nonprofit organizations, producing live visual summaries of complex meetings and events. This experience taught her that the ability to synthesize information visually is not a rare gift but a trainable skill—one that anyone can develop with the right practice.
Her writing has appeared in *The Learning Scientists Blog*, *UX Collective*, and *Visual Thinking Magazine*. She also runs a small YouTube channel where she posts sketchnote walkthroughs and visual study tips. When she is not drawing ideas on paper, she is likely hiking the Bruce Trail or experimenting with watercolor landscapes.
The Visual Note-Taking Method is her first book. She is currently working on a companion workbook and a series of subject-specific sketchnoting guides for STEM students.
