About this ebook

Lesotho, 1962. One reckless lie. A diamond worth killing for. A love that could cost them everything.

When a forced landing in a snow-swept mountain valley throws Philippa Tremain back into the path of Stuart Price — the rugged charter pilot she's never quite forgotten — a reckless impulse takes hold. Stranded with their rescuers and an approaching storm, she tells a lie: they are newlyweds. Stuart, horrified but protective, plays along.

The lie should have melted with the snow.

It doesn't.

Months later in Cape Town, Philippa's life appears firmly on course — a powerful suitor, a diamond dynasty, a future of security and privilege. But when the mountain photograph resurfaces in the hands of a ruthless criminal tied to a highland diamond syndicate, that impulsive story becomes lethal leverage. Stuart is blackmailed into flying illegal runs to the remote diggings at Letseng-la-Terai, where greed, desperation, and whispered talk of medicine murders have turned the Maluti highlands into a powder keg.

Dragged back to the stark beauty of colonial Basutoland, Philippa finds herself caught between the safe marriage she was raised to want and the man her lie has endangered. Stuart, already scarred by choices he can't outrun, is running out of road. And when violence erupts on the mountain, Philippa must choose what she's willing to sacrifice — and who she's willing to become.

The Lesotho Diamond is African historical romantic suspense steeped in a landscape the author knows from childhood — her father's real investigations into illegal diamond buying and ritual murder in colonial Lesotho lie at the heart of this story.

Perfect for readers of Paula McLain's Circling the Sun and Jennifer McVeigh's The Fever Tree.

About the author

Born into a family of adventurers, Beverley (B.G.) Nettelton spent her earliest years in Lesotho's remote, mountainous terrain, drawing inspiration from the African kingdom’s craggy peaks and far-flung valleys to shape her Wings over Africa series.

Under her other pen names - Beverley Eikli and Beverley Oakley —she writes historical romance with mystery and suspense, and Regency Romantic Comedies.

Beverley’s dashing bush pilot characters are based on the handsome Norwegian aviator who swept her off her feet when Beverley ran safari lodges in Botswana’s pristine, game-rich Okavango Delta.

She began her writing career as a journalist, but it was during long aerial survey contracts around the world—often as the sole woman among the crew—that she began to write romance novels.

Beverley lives just north of Melbourne with the same wonderful husband she whisked away from Botswana thirty years ago, together with their youngest daughter (the oldest lives in Norway), and a gorgeous, dopey Rhodesian Ridgeback.

When she’s not writing, she runs a bed & breakfast & Farmstay business (called Wuthering Heights) in South Australia’s beautiful wine growing Clare Valley with her two sisters, and teaches Writing.
