Over the course of three days, the relationship between exes is viewed from several viewpoints- the early relationship, the marriage, and the current relationship. They are together for their daughter’s wedding and he is having to stay at his ex’s home. The main female character began to grate on my nerves with her assumptions and lack of seeing a different viewpoint. Her own regret peppers her reactions and there is a certain level of the inability to separate her mistakes from the present. I can not say I really enjoyed the book because of this. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The main character got on my nerves immediately and all I could think of was, I would not want to meet her. She was unsure of herself and didn't understand herself.

ANNE TYLER was born in Minneapolis, MN, in 1941 and grew up in Raleigh, NC. She is the author of more than twenty novels. Her twentieth novel, A Spool of Blue Thread, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2015. Her eleventh novel, Breathing Lessons, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1989. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She lives in Baltimore, MD.
