I thought nothing was worse than dying. Then I discovered there are things that hurt an awful lot more than chemo—like getting your heart trampled on by the insanely powerful superhuman prince who claims you’re his mate. Right after we consummated the mating, no less.

Well, he can have a nice life. The moment an opportunity presents itself, I’m out of here.

This is the conclusion of Elsie & Aruan's story, so be sure to read Dark Prince's Captive first. I really loved this duet of reads. Romantasy is something I'm just getting into, and this couple, their story and their world truly captivated me and has me seeing the appeal. The blend of drama, emotions, twists, action, feels, and spice is rich, and it kept my heart and attention powerfully engaged. Absolutely wonderful and I can't express how much I would love to return to this world.

We continue book 2 where one leaves off. Elsie has fled as her and Aruan shared a connection. Elsie tends to at times be a little annoying as she doesn’t always think her actions through. But in the second book we see growth that throughly enjoy her character. We see the depths that she truly holds in her heart. The second book has a lot of our questions answered. It is jammed packed with action, drama, suspense, and betrayals. It will have you unable to put it down.

This is the second part of Elsie and Aruan story and wow. I absolutely loved the twists and turns in this book. Elsie is still fighting against the attraction to Aruan and ends up in a situation that is very unfortunate. Elsie just needs to succumb to the fated mates bond and everything would have been fine, instead she makes it so much harder on herself. But the story would not be the same, which was fantastic, without her stubbornness.
