Two priceless paintings vanish from right under her nose—stolen from her own territory, with all the finesse of a challenge thrown directly at one of the Fae Court’s deadliest operatives. Whoever did this didn’t just want the art. They wanted Elain to know they could.
The insult cuts even deeper when one of the stolen works turns out to be a commissioned work painted by Elain’s boyfriend. With Fae politics, reputation, and personal loyalties tangled together, failure isn’t an option.
Meanwhile, Ebrel has problems of her own.
A new coffee shop opens in town, and its barista is her Italian rival who’s back for his revenge. Worse? Someone is sabotaging Mystic Brews, enchanting coffee cups to make her drinks taste wrong. Not burnt. Not weak. Magically wrong.
As stolen art, cursed cups, and old grudges collide, Ebrel and Elain uncover a deeper scheme that blends supernatural theft with magical warfare—and the realization that Misty Valley is being tested from multiple angles at once.
Because in a town where magic and mundanity coexist, even a cup of coffee can become a weapon.
The Art of the Brew delivers high-stakes urban fantasy intrigue wrapped in a cozy paranormal mystery—featuring elite Fae agents, magical sabotage, rival baristas, and a heroine discovering that protecting her town may require more than just good coffee.
Alyn Troy is American from the Midwest (Indiana) who writes The Mystic Brews and Pixie Twist series of Cozy Mysteries. In addition to Indiana, he's lived in Southern California, where the Pixie Twist series is set, and has served as a history docent on notable pier in SoCal. In his past lives, he's been a journalist, a wedding photographer, and an adjunct professor. Alyn gets daily assistance from his fuzzy familiar (AKA "Lord Fuzzbutt"). When not helping his human with the writing of paranormal cozy mysteries, Lord Fuzzbutt likes to sit out outside and watch the hummingbirds dart about like pixies. He often yowls at the door, waiting to head to the patio for chipmunk duty. Fortunately, the little rodents are craftier than Fuzzbutt is. Alyn's beverage of choice is dark roast coffee with a dash of honey, and a splash of half-n-half. In addition to being half-way competent with his home espresso machine, Alyn makes a mean Mai Tai.
