Us in Another Universe

On Meg’s last night at home before heading across the country to college on a tennis scholarship, she gets a phone call. In one universe, Meg ignores the call and goes to a party where she reunites with her charming long-time crush. Then the night takes a turn that changes her whole perfectly planned future.

In the other universe, she answers the call and doesn’t go to the party. She leaves for school as expected, where she connects with the hot captain of the men’s tennis team. But this path isn’t nearly as smooth as she’d thought it would be.

Meg’s life unfolds around that single, fateful decision in alternating chapters. Both branches lead to a complete story arc—each with a different love interest—though readers might be surprised to see where Meg ultimately ends up.

• Tropes Abound: One universe features childhood crush, friends-to-lovers, and three’s a crowd tropes, while the other universe features light enemies-to-lovers, secret relationship, and sports romance tropes.
• Enticing Sliding Doors Romance: This story hinges on one decision that sends the main character down two separate paths. Each path features a swoony guy who offers Meg very different things: a former high school crush that was always Meg’s “what if” vs. the hotshot captain of the men’s tennis team that seems to really get her feelings.
• Emotionally Nuanced: While this is a romance, it’s not afraid to delve into heavier subjects! Readers will be reaching for their tissues as Meg deals with loss and learns to communicate with her mom.
