About this ebook

With AI by our side, the world is changing faster than we ever imagined, prompting us as parents to question everything: Should we prohibit it, or should we allow our children to use it freely? The answer lies somewhere between these two extremes—not in blocking AI, but in guiding our children to use it wisely. As the way children learn continues to evolve, perhaps our role as parents must evolve as well. This book is our attempt to understand that role and to share this journey with you.

About the author

Dr. Alfred Boediman is a seasoned senior executive who has led strategic reforms at the intersection of deep technology, finance, and sustainability, combining strong academic foundations with extensive industry experience. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago Asia Campus and as an Honorary Professor at the Antai School of Business, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where his work focuses on econophysics, cliodynamics, and the application of complex systems thinking to financial and socio-economic markets. He graduated from Universitas Indonesia, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago.

His postdoctoral research explores derivatives and financial exchange dynamics using neuro-statistics and multi-layered market sentiment analysis. His academic interests include cognitive socio-behavioral finance, machine learning, and non-linear market behavior. Beyond academia, Alfred is an angel investor in several prominent technology startups and an advisor to the University of Chicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship’s Asia chapter. Outside his professional pursuits, he enjoys motorcycling, archery, and cooking.

Franciska Windy, ST, MSc, is the founder of an architecture and design practice and the co-founder of an AI-powered consultancy that helps brands renew, reposition, and grow. Her work extends beyond designing spaces; she supports businesses in diagnosing what is fading, identifying misalignment, and rebuilding with clarity across areas ranging from branding to operations.

In both her creative and professional endeavors, Windy treats AI as a thinking partner—one that expands possibilities while keeping human judgment and intention at the center. This philosophy also shapes her approach to parenting in the AI era. She believes children do not need perfect answers; they need curiosity, the ability to ask meaningful questions, and the courage to think critically in a constantly changing world. Algo Child emerged from that belief, capturing her journey of using AI with purpose—questioning its assumptions, co-creating ideas, and guiding children toward awareness, resilience, and the thoughtful use of powerful tools.
