Akeisha Sims is a nationally recognized standardized test preparation specialist with over fifteen years of experience helping students achieve their target scores on the SAT, ACT, GRE, and GMAT. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia, where her graduate research focused on test anxiety interventions and their impact on cognitive performance under high-stakes conditions.
After beginning her career as a high school math teacher in the Atlanta Public School system, Sims transitioned to test preparation full-time in 2011, founding Sims Test Strategies, a boutique test prep firm that has since worked with over four thousand students across all four major standardized exams. Her students have achieved score improvements averaging 240 points on the SAT, 5 points on the ACT composite, 18 points on the GRE, and 90 points on the GMAT—placing her firm among the top-performing independent test preparation practices in the country.
Sims is a frequent speaker at national education conferences, including the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA), where she has presented her research on strategic test-taking frameworks and the neuroscience of test-day performance. She has also contributed to test preparation content for major publishers including Kaplan, The Princeton Review, and Khan Academy, and her work has been featured in *U.S. News & World Report*, *The Chronicle of Higher Education*, and *Education Week*.
In addition to her private practice and public speaking, Sims serves as an adjunct instructor in the School of Education at Georgia State University, where she teaches a graduate-level course on high-stakes assessment and test design. She lives in Decatur, Georgia, with her wife and two children, and spends her limited free time training for half-marathons and reading literary fiction.
