About this ebook

Metaphor is a fundamental feature of literary language that allows writers to express ideas, emotions, and experiences in indirect and imaginative ways. By linking one concept to another, metaphor extends meaning beyond literal expression and invites readers to interpret relationships, similarities, and associations within a text. In literature, metaphor is not merely a decorative device but a core mechanism through which themes are developed, characters are shaped, and abstract concepts are made concrete. As a literary phenomenon, metaphor plays a central role in meaning-making, encouraging multiple interpretations and active engagement between the text and the reader.
