About this ebook

Easy Summary- Barbie Chooses Her Own Path

In April, Barbie Roberts wakes up to find two college letters on the ground next to her family's front door. The first letter is from Kingsley College. The envelope has a golden tower on it. The second one has a green oak leaf and is from Lakeshore College.

Barbie has been accepted to both schools.

Kingsley is big, well-known, and looked up to. A lot of good business owners and leaders went there to school. Barbie has been given a spot in its Business Leadership program. Her parents are very happy because they think Kingsley will help her make important connections and find great job opportunities.

Lakeshore isn’t well known or big. But Barbie would be interested in its Community Design program. It brings together art, science, tech, and helping people. Students learn how to make streets safer, playgrounds that everyone can use, community fields, and public spaces that everyone feels welcome in. She feels like the program is right for her when she reads about it.

When Barbie's family gets both acceptance letters, they celebrate with hugs, happy tears, and pictures. But soon, everyone starts giving her tips. Because Kingsley is a well-known name, her parents like it better. Her aunt talks about jobs that are really great. Barbie's teachers and friends also have different ideas.

Barbie starts to feel lost. They helped her, and she's thankful, but she doesn't know if she still has the choice.

Barbie looks at more than just the names of schools and colorful handouts to make a smart choice. She looks at things like tuition, grants, courses, jobs, internships, class sizes, and help for students. She goes to both campuses and talks to recent graduates. Her goals and the kind of daily life she wants are also very important to her.

Barbie knows she doesn't have to pick between a good and a bad future. Both schools provide useful chances and tough problems to solve. She has to pick the road that fits her values, needs, and tastes.

Advice can help us make decisions, but it shouldn't run our lives. Barbie learns this important lesson from the two packages. There are many ways to be successful, and the most well-known way isn't always the best way for us.
