Gain a Deep, Practical Understanding of 5G Technology

5G is transforming the future of wireless communications, delivering unprecedented speed, capacity, and connectivity while enabling a new generation of applications and services. As organisations embrace this next evolution of mobile technology, professionals, managers, and students need a clear understanding of the technologies, architectures, and standards that make 5G possible.

In 5G Wireless: A Comprehensive Introduction, renowned technology author William Stallings provides a clear, comprehensive guide to the concepts, technologies, and real-world applications driving the 5G revolution. Combining technical depth with practical insight, Stallings explains not just how 5G works, but why it matters.

Beginning with the evolution of cellular networks from earlier generations through to 5G, the text explores key use cases and emerging opportunities across industries. It then examines the 5G core network in detail, including software-defined networking (SDN), network function virtualisation (NFV), network slicing, quality of service (QoS), and edge computing. Comprehensive coverage of the 5G air interface and radio access network helps readers build a complete understanding of the end-to-end ecosystem.

Realistic examples bring complex concepts to life, review questions reinforce learning, and extensive references support deeper exploration. Whether you're building foundational knowledge or expanding your expertise, this resource provides the practical understanding needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving world of 5G communications.
