조명희 시인, 소설가, 극작가 호는 포석(抱石) 필명은 목성(木星), 적로(笛蘆) 국적은 러시아 1894년 충북 진천 출생 1938년 소련에서 사형선고 후 총살로 사망 1919년 3.1운동에 가담하여 투옥되기도 했으며, 1925년 조선프롤레타리아예술가동맹(KAPF)에 참여하였고, 신변의 위협으로 1928년 러시아로 망명하였다. 주요 작품으로는 《김영일의 사(死)》 등의 희곡과 땅속으로, 한여름 밤, 낙동강 등의 단편소설과 시집 《봄 잔디밭 위에》가 있다.
