About this audiobook

"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious
suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book.
This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our
relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and
overwork—all the forces that keep our lives constricted and
unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the
day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's twenty years of
work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Writing with
great warmth and clarity, Tara Brach brings her teachings alive through
personal stories and case histories, fresh interpretations of Buddhist
tales, and guided meditations. Step by step, she leads us to trust our
innate goodness, showing how we can develop the balance of
clear-sightedness and compassion that is the essence of Radical Acceptance. Radical Acceptance
does not mean self-indulgence or passivity. Instead it empowers genuine
change: healing fear and shame and helping to build loving, authentic
relationships. When we stop being at war with ourselves, we are free to
live fully every precious moment of our lives.

"Just suck it up and move on" AKA bypass, accept and forget it ever happened. This book was recommended by a therapist and I have never been so disappointed in a "professional".

Greetings - was turned onto Tara Brach, PH.D. by my general physician. Dr. C is also a spiritual person - i.e. a Buddhist. He knows I'm into growth - stretching myself - hungry for knowledge. Anything that can move me forward - get me to change and tweak what needs to be changed and tweaked. He sent me to You Tube, where Tara generously has many many You Tube videos. I've watched perhaps 20 this month alone - have adopted "Radical Acceptance/Tara Brach" as my new tele-mentor. She's just wonderful, you can't believe how much you can change (or gain insight into) merely by listening. Also, Tara is an anxiety aid - and I go to You Tube/Tara when triggered. I'm grateful this is available, especially grateful it's on sale right now. -jk

one of the best books I've ever read. this book is full of guided meditations, ancient stories, poems, and personal case studies that relate to self acceptance and compassion. A must read for any one in therapy or anyone who struggles with feelings of shame.
