ENUMA ELISH: The Complete Seven Tablets in Modern English
About this audiobook
Long before Moses, before Genesis was written, the priests of Babylon told their own story of how the world began.
Enuma Elish is the ancient Babylonian creation epic: a story of primordial chaos, divine war, and the rise of the god Marduk to supreme power over heaven and earth. Alongside it, this edition presents the complete flood narrative of Atrahasis, the Babylonian account of a deluge sent to destroy humankind, centuries older than the flood of Noah.
Most translations of these texts are either a century out of date or written for specialists. This one is neither.
This edition gives you:
● The complete seven tablets of Enuma Elish in clear, modern English
● The full flood story of Atrahasis
● Tablet-by-tablet commentary explaining every god, place, and damaged line as it appears
● A careful, evenhanded comparison to the Book of Genesis, tablet by tablet and theme by theme
● A glossary of gods and places, historical background, and a timeline for quick reference
You do not need any prior knowledge of Mesopotamian mythology to read this book. Every unfamiliar name is explained the moment it appears. Where the ancient tablets are damaged or missing, that is marked honestly rather than invented.
Where Enuma Elish and Atrahasis echo the opening chapters of Genesis, and where they sharply diverge, this book lays it out plainly. It does not argue that Genesis copied these texts, and it does not dismiss the parallels either. You are given the actual ancient words, side by side with the evidence, and left to draw your own conclusions.
Whether you come to this book out of curiosity about ancient mythology, questions about the roots of your own faith, or a wish to finally read the text so many others only summarize, Enuma Elish belongs on your shelf.

About the author
Thornbridge Press publishes clear, carefully researched editions of ancient and foundational texts for readers who want to encounter the primary sources themselves rather than someone else's summary of them. Each edition pairs a faithful, modern translation with plain-language historical and comparative commentary, written for curious general readers rather than specialists.
Thornbridge Press draws on established scholarly translations and current research, presented without unnecessary jargon and without an agenda, so readers can weigh the evidence and reach their own conclusions. Where a text is damaged, disputed, or incomplete, that uncertainty is stated plainly rather than smoothed over.
The Thornbridge Press catalog focuses on ancient religious, mythological, and historical texts that shaped, or are said to have shaped, the traditions millions of readers recognize today. Enuma Elish: The Complete Seven Tablets in Modern English is part of that ongoing project.
