Salvaged Heart

Beckham: I thought I had the future all figured out, but even the best plans fall apart.

Just going through the motions, hoping my girlfriend, Laurel, doesn't realize I'm a fraction of the man I used to be. What I need is a purpose. Enter Laurel's inheritance. A crumbling lakeside mansion. She needs it restored, and I'm the man for the job.

Three months. One summer. Just us—and her enigmatic stepbrother, Anders. Everyone tells me he's trouble. But the more time I spend with him, the more I see cracks beneath his surface.

Anders: I think I've got a problem.

I'm cut off from my family, living on the edge and barely hanging on. I know exactly where this path is leading, but I'm too far gone to change it. When the only person who ever had faith in me dies, leaving me a fortune I can't yet touch, I finally see a glimmer of hope. But there's a catch. I have to return to a place I swore I'd never set foot in, face the demons I've been trying to escape, and confront a sister I've only ever let down. Not to mention meet her undoubtedly insufferable boyfriend.

But the moment I'm introduced to Beckham, I can tell he sees something in me that no one else has.
