About this audiobook

Fed up with life under scrutiny, Ashleigh Paton considers her grandmother’s favorite saying—“Escape to the Country! A Change is as good as a holiday.”

The advice ignites a yearning in Ashleigh to leave city life and all it involves. A teaching position in Featherwood Falls could provide the answer, one she hopes will offer the new life she craves. After all—what could go wrong? It’s better than being unemployed and the reward could be the peace she desires.

Damian Cartwright has a secret. Like his eccentric great-aunt, a reclusive life in the bush suits him. Except now his son, Charlie, is old enough to start school, and old enough to be subjected to ridicule. It’s time for action, even if that involves calling a truce with Charlie’s feisty new teacher.

When unexplained events occur in the area, young Charlie forces Ashleigh into seeking answers. But uncovering the truth proves more shocking than imagined and sparks fly in more ways than one.

Can Ashleigh extinguish the inferno without destroying all she has gained? Or will her dreams be over before they begin?

About the author

Heather Reyburn enjoyed an idyllic childhood in beautiful New Zealand, before settling on the Darling Downs in Queensland. With a passion for nature, animals, reading and all things farm related, it wasn't long before her rural lifestyle inspired dreams of writing stories of her own. She loves happy endings, history, suspense, and characters who remain with the reader long after "The End". When not writing, Heather is often found in the garden or spending time with her husband and family. Sarah Kennedy is a full time Australian audiobook narrator and voiceover artist. "I've been telling stories for as long as I can remember. Making people think and feel things. Allowing them to escape their daily lives. I hold a Bachelor of Theatre Arts majoring in Acting and Voice and I had a successful and award-winning career in theatre for more than a decade before starting my family. These days, narrating audiobooks and other voiceover work gives me all the creative satisfaction I need without any of the things I never really liked about being a 'visible' actress. I love the pace of audiobook work. I love being able to fully immerse myself in another reality for hours on end and I love that my work allows others to do the same."
