THE APOSTLE CONTESTED: Why Judaism and Islam Reject Paul’s Theology

THE APOSTLE CONTESTED

Why Judaism and Islam Reject Paul’s Theology

Few figures have shaped Christianity as profoundly—or as controversially—as the apostle Paul. Revered by Christians and rejected by others, Paul stands at the center of a theological divide that continues to shape interfaith debate.

The Apostle Contested explores why Judaism and Islam both reject Paul’s message, authority, and interpretation of Jesus. Tracing Paul’s life, writings, and influence, this book examines how his theology departed from Jewish law, redefined salvation, and transformed a first-century Jewish movement into a global faith distinct from both Judaism and later Islam.

Drawing on the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, rabbinic thought, the Qur’an, and early historical sources, the book compares how each tradition understands revelation, law, prophecy, and redemption—and why Paul’s teachings were seen as incompatible with them.

Clear, balanced, and historically grounded, this work does not argue for or against belief, but explains the roots of disagreement. It shows how Paul became both Christianity’s most influential apostle and its most contested figure.

If you want to understand why Paul is embraced by Christians yet rejected by Jews and Muslims—and how that rejection reveals deeper differences about God, law, and salvation—this book offers a compelling and illuminating read.
