I'm loath to give books, or even authors, a 1☆ rating - but I think less than 2☆s is appropriate in this case. NB. I'm describing my experience of the Audio-book version of the novel. Having listened to the "preview" before buying, I was wrong on two counts. (1) I thought this was anthology - I'm not sure why!! And (2) I wasn't aware that a large proportion of the book was set in Paris, France! Well, if there's one major stumbling block for AI. readers, it's reading foreign words within English sentences. This goes double for several French words at the start of a paragraph and gets worse if the words appear in the body of the text!
