About this audiobook

What if the life you’re longing for is found on the other side of a death you’re avoiding? The award-winning author of Everything Is Never Enough reveals how Jesus’s most radical command—die to yourself—offers a surprising path to joy.

Dreams go unrealized. Prayers seem unanswered. The life you envisioned hasn’t materialized, and somewhere along the way, disappointment turned into doubt. Maybe you’re experiencing suffering that makes you question God’s goodness. Or maybe you’ve gone through the motions so long you’ve forgotten what it feels like to actually live by faith.

Bobby Jamieson says these struggles trace back to the same root—and the same remedy: “God may not give you the life you want,” he writes, “but he will give you the death you need.” With theological depth and pastoral warmth, Jamieson shows how self-denial, rightly understood, becomes the antidote to disappointment, suffering, and spiritual stagnation. You’ll discover how to

  • trust God through disappointment by releasing your demands and receiving what God gives as a gift
  • endure suffering in a way that strengthens rather than harms your faith
  • break through spiritual stagnation

This book is an invitation to the only death that leads to life: through disappointment, suffering, and dry seasons to a joy that endures.
