The Silent Grave: A D.I. Duncan McAdam Mystery (The Misty Isle Book 1)
About this audiobook
Some secrets refuse to stay buried. Some murders wait decades for justice.
On a windswept beach on the Isle of Skye, a group of teenagers gathers to celebrate the end of an era. The new millennium is approaching, futures lie ahead, and dreams stretch beyond the island’s rugged shores. For most, life is only beginning.
For one of them, it ends.
Nearly twenty years later, a body is discovered hidden deep within the peatlands of the remote Waternish peninsula. Perfectly preserved by time, the remains belong to Isla Matheson—a teenage runaway whose disappearance long ago became little more than a fading memory. Now, the island is forced to confront a mystery it thought was buried forever.
Detective Inspector Duncan McAdam returns home to investigate a crime that has haunted the Misty Isle for decades.
As Duncan reopens old wounds and questions former friends, neighbors, and family members, he uncovers a community bound by loyalty, silence, and secrets. Behind the island’s breathtaking beauty lies a network of hidden resentments, forgotten betrayals, and truths that powerful people would rather keep concealed.
The deeper Duncan digs, the clearer it becomes that someone has spent years protecting the truth. And someone may be willing to kill again to keep it hidden.
The body has been found. The past is awakening. And the island is running out of places to hide its secrets.
