About this audiobook

INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes a sensational romantasy, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight.

"Prepare to meet your next obsession." — Rebecca Ross, author of Divine Rivals

Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams.

Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god.

The Knight and the Moth, book 1 in the Stonewater Kingdom was a atmospheric read. I am here for Rachel's atmospheric writing. I really enjoyed the gothic mysterious feel of this book. Both in the magic system and Sybil aka Six in this story. My favorite character was by far the gargoyle outspoken and quirky, so much sass yet with a soft side. I loved the dynamic of Sybil and the gargoyle's relationship. Sybil an orphan accepts an offer to be protected by the Cathedral in exchange to serve as a diviner. Amongst the other diviner women in the group a sisterhood is forged. Drawing straws and constantly hidden below a shroud. What will come of the diviners once their time is served? We meet a mysterious knight, Rodrick who arrives at the Cathedral. From here a journey is born. Of what I can't say. I loved the lyrical writing of the eyes and blood within this book. This book goes gothic in comparison to The Shephard King (which I have only read book one of). I didn't understand the plot points as well in this one. It felt slower to me and wandering which was interrupted by the magic system (which was harder to follow in audio). I regret not reading this as well with my eyes. I think I would have understood the setup of the character world better. We saw a lot of banter between the love interests which I enjoyed. Other than that I didn't really find myself turning the page for the romance. I received this book from Hatchette Audio for my honest review.

This book is unlike anything I've read in the best way. Its so well written with an amazing plot and a long yearning enemies to lovers. The whole time you are immersed in a magical whimsical medieval religious conspiracy vibe. The action and twists are 10/10. Can't wait to read book 2
