SERVER POWER AND ENERGY OPTIMIZATION IN DATA CENTERS

Energy consumption in data centers has become one of the most pressing concerns of the digital age. As cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and edge workloads continue their exponential growth, the question is no longer simply 'can we power it?' but rather 'can we power it efficiently, sustainably, and profitably?'

This book was written to give engineers, architects, and business decision-makers a rigorous, practical foundation for understanding server power consumption — from the physics of electricity flowing through a power supply unit to the economics of power purchase agreements signed at the executive level.

Each chapter stands alone as a reference, yet together they tell a coherent story: every watt matters, every thermal decision has financial consequences, and the gap between a poorly optimized data center and a best-in-class facility can represent millions of dollars in annual operating costs.

Whether you are designing a hyperscale facility, retrofitting a legacy server room, or optimizing a co-location rack budget, the principles in these pages will serve you.
