The Pianist

A ghost at the piano. A melody unfinished. A mystery that won’t stay silent.

When mournful piano music begins drifting through the main dining hall of Beacon of Hope Assisted Living, Lois Grover is the first to hear it. The haunting melody plays only at night—and no one sits at the piano when the staff rushes in to investigate.

But Lois sees her. A young woman in a skirt and heels, her fingers gliding over invisible keys.

While Lois and her friends in the Twilight Society—a secret circle devoted to helping lost souls find peace—set out to uncover the truth behind the ghostly pianist, Lois is drawn once again to the strange cave on the grounds known as Pluto’s Gate. Inside, echoes of the past intertwine with the spectral music, hinting at something far older and more mysterious than a single haunting.

Guided by a cryptic journal given to her by Beacon’s director, Paula Smith—a journal said to have been written by a long-departed predecessor—Lois begins to suspect that the line between past and present is thinner than anyone realizes.

As the Twilight Society unearths hidden letters, buried rivalries, and a scandal that once rocked the mansion’s days as a finishing school, Lois comes closer to understanding not only the ghost’s unfinished symphony, but the deeper forces connecting them all.
