This story is about a person who is unknowingly in a dream, and has to complete three tasks as commanded by, as the title suggests, the Shadow Man. He completes the first two tasks , however he does not realise how quickly he completed them. This suggests the difference between dream time and real time. By the third task, which is the deeper meaning of the story, he realises that he is in a dream. When he realises he was in control, this is the commencement of him having a lucid dream (being aware that you are in a dream, and having control over what happens.)
