A true story of love, survival, and the long way back to each other.
They were thirteen the first time they found each other….a boy and a girl in a junior high commons area, trading notes and Shakespeare lines like they already knew this was the beginning of something. Then life did what life does. He joined the military after 9/11. She built a life a continent away. Two decades passed. Marriages. Children. A grandfather's heart attack. A hospitalization that nearly ended everything. And through all of it, underneath all of it, something kept running, quiet as a creek deep in a wooded hideaway, waiting to be found again.
The Creation of Camelot is a true story of second-chance love, told without the soft edges. It's about what separation actually costs two people over more than a decade apart. It's about surviving trauma, rebuilding after a TBI and a mental health crisis, and learning, slowly, imperfectly, how to trust safety after years of learning to survive without it. It's about a blended family finding its footing, about a found family that chose each other on purpose, and about two people who built, from scratch, a home and a life they call Camelot.
Written by a mental health professional, advocate, and author, this memoir doesn't offer easy answers. It offers something better: proof that a love this old, this interrupted, this hard-won, can still find its way home.
Part memoir and part meditation on the psychology of recognition, commitment, and enduring love — drawing on Jungian analysis and three decades of lived partnership — this is a book about what it actually takes to keep choosing someone. Not the fairy tale ending. The daily, deliberate practice of building one.
TIFFANY SOLTER, PhD
Tiffany Solter, PhD, is a mental health professional, Life Coach, advocate and author writing under the Solter Adventures banner — “Live Authentically and Create Magic.” She lives with her husband, Jeff, and their rescued animals in “Camelot.”
Tiffany Solter, PhD is a mental health professional, educator, advocate, and lifelong seeker of magic whose writing explores the boundaries between life, death, justice, and the profound connections that define us. Born into a family of mountain people spanning Wyoming and Colorado, she grew up shaped, largely, by two grandmothers who taught her, one through train journeys across the West, the other chasing shooting stars across the plains, that anything is possible.
A survivor of a near-death experience in 1996, Solter spent decades integrating what she encountered in that "warm place where light is everything" into a life of healing work, academic achievement, and fierce advocacy. She holds a doctorate with a dissertation on grace and recovery, and has worked alongside peer counselors, nurses, and mental health teams she considers among the most transformative teachers of her life.
Her advocacy voice is unflinching and deeply personal. In "Be a Man": The Violence Society Ignores, Solter turns her clinical expertise and lived experience toward a crisis our culture has long refused to see: domestic violence against men. Drawing on research, survivor accounts, and her own family history, she challenges the archetypal and institutional blind spots that leave male victims invisible, unbelieved, and without adequate resources. The book is equal parts gripping fiction, Jungian psychological analysis, and practical call to action. It is complete with resource guides for survivors, supporters, military families, and children. It is the work of someone who has sat in clinical rooms with these men, loved them as family, and refused to stay silent.
She lives in what she calls Camelot, a home she and her husband Jeff manifested in childhood whispers, surrounded by family, familiars, motorcycles, and what she simply calls the magic.
“Between Worlds” is her memoir. "Be a Man" is her battle cry.
