Useless… Unwanted… Unloved….
When those closest to you see you as nothing more than a crippled child with no future, where do you find the strength to prove them wrong?
No one believed in Cara-AabiLynn—not even her own father or the woman who raised her. Born with a stunted arm and leg, she was deemed worthless by those she loved most, denied affection, and treated as a burden. Given to a cruel man to repay her father’s gambling debt, Cara’s uncertain life became one of hardship, despair, and survival.
In this first story, candidates gather to take part in the Dragon Rite, a sacred ceremony in which children may bond with a dragon hatchling.
Cara is given a chance to escape her life of slavery and claim a future of her own—if fate will allow it.
During the Dragon Rite, the dragon queen lays her eggs, and each child must choose one from her clutch. Cara selects the egg no one else wants—unwanted, just like her.
If you love dragon stories such as Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern, Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon, or George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, you’ll love this series about a bond of friendship and found family unlike any other.
AbiLynn’s Dragon Rite is a saga of friendship, sacrifice, love, war, and betrayal, with elements of dark fantasy. Travel to a land shaped by dragons, where riders raise hatchlings and form lifelong bonds that define destiny itself.
This young adult fantasy brings Cara and her baby dragon ever closer to danger. Legends are forged, and myths begin to rise. Set in a fairytale realm filled with dwarf-like creatures, elves, magic, wizards, warlocks, shapeshifters, and epic battles, this dark fairy-tale explores the power of friendship and the strength found within.
Freed from her life of bondage, Cara begins a coming-of-age journey among the dragons and finally finds a place she can call home. Yet supernatural forces move against the dragon nests, threatening destruction. Survival demands unity, courage, and sacrifice—and heroism alone may not be enough.
Dragon folklore speaks of one who will help save the world. Long-forgotten fables aside, Cara must discover the strength within herself to stand against the coming darkness in this epic YA dragon fantasy.
