The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive—the iconic epic fantasy masterpiece that has sold more than 10 million copies, from acclaimed bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiant killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium’s champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

Pathetic sellout to woke Hollywood. Abandonment of all past character growth and storyline. Just like Sanderson, our heroes have opted to betray the ideals that made them great. Instead of rising up a better man, our hero lays down, quits, and dies. Instead of an epic stand against the forces trying to destroy them, our heroes sit around campfires and talk about their feelings. The whole point of this book is that a budding GAY ROMANCE is somehow the "progress" that will save the world! 🤦‍♂️

Minor Spoilers Ahead: This book was boring. Half of the book took place in the Spiritual Realm where they looked at past events. 1/5 of this book revolved around Szeth's past and how he was wronged. Also you can tell Brandon Sanderson is trying to grow his ties to Hollywood because there was a lot of wokeness in this book. For example: Adalins brother Renarin is attracted to men. In one chapter he is drooling over another man and he is too scared to ask him out because he is scared that of rejection and that the other man might have a wife. Also the Uritheru spren known as the sibling identifies as gender neutral. This book was trash. When Szeth was the assasin in book 1 and 2 it was always exciting when he showed up. he sent shivers down my spine. He becomes a good guy and becomes practically useless. I would have loved to have seen him attacking the Fused and leaving them in dissaray.

Good beginning 20% and ending 20%. Agonizingly repetitive and plodding middle 60%. Shallan's sections are often death by internal monologue. Near the end, even Dalinar of all people becomes an internal monologue windbag. The middle story becomes so repetitive. At one point Szeth decides he must go on a pilgrimage to cleanse all 10 monasteries in Shinovar. The confrontation at each monastery isn't that unique. To spruce it up we get flashback chapters from when Szeth was a young man training to become an honorbearer.. by going on pilgrimage to all 10 monasteries. Sigh.. Later in the flashbacks after he has completed his training pilgrimage, he is sent on a second pilgrimage of all the monasteries. This is all so repetitive to read. There's a section with 5 POV characters in the spiritual realm. At first they see and learn new stuff from ancient history. Then it devolves into them reliving scenes described in past books. Giant "as seen previously on" sequences. So repetitive.
