BEYOND THE STORM (Book 3 of four historical tales of family and fortune)

In Tudor England, love can be as dangerous as ambition, and duty can demand sacrifices that the heart refuses to accept.

Maria has loved Hugo Kendal for years, but her hopes of winning him are shattered when he marries Margaret. Consumed by jealousy and grief, she is eventually sent away and betrothed to Harold Cummins, a man she does not love. Yet distance cannot extinguish her feelings for Hugo.

As the Kendal family faces tragedy, marriage, childbirth and the pressures of managing their estates and mining interests, Maria finds herself drawn back into Hugo’s world. Their reunion awakens a love they have both tried to deny, but Hugo is married and Maria is promised to another man.

Against the backdrop of sixteenth-century Devon, London and Kent, Beyond the Storm is a poignant historical romance about forbidden love, family loyalty, sacrifice and the choices people make when the heart and duty pull in opposite directions.
