When Detective Inspector Mike Nash is called to investigate the apparent suicide of notorious serial killer Brian Dawson, something immediately feels wrong. Dawson, known as the Cremator, is believed to have murdered several women, and many people had reason to want him dead. But forensic evidence soon proves that Dawson was actually murdered.
As Nash digs deeper, the case becomes entangled with a bank robbery, money laundering, a mysterious visitor to imprisoned criminal Simon Wardle, and a shadowy figure using the name Charles Grenfell. Meanwhile, Nash is recovering from an attack that destroyed his home and left him injured, while trying to protect the people closest to him.
With multiple crimes seemingly connected, Nash must determine who killed Dawson and why—and whether the murderer is seeking revenge or silencing someone who knows too much.
