The Wishing Bridge: Sweet Romance Short Story

She came back for two weeks to sell her grandmother’s flower shop. The town carpenter has other plans.

Ten years of corporate deadlines in the city taught Emma Porter to keep her eyes on the future. But when she inherits Bloom & Thorn after her grandmother’s passing, she returns to Willow Creek with a single goal: clear out the shop, sign the listing papers, and head back to her routine.

Those plans stall the moment Jack Russo walks through the door.

Jack, her childhood friend and the quiet master carpenter restoring the town’s century-old covered bridge, is steadier and harder to ignore than she remembered. For over a hundred years, townspeople have tucked paper wishes into the bridge’s hemlock timbers—and Jack hasn't forgotten the note Emma left behind years ago.

As old memories resurface and the bridge reveals wishes from the past, Emma must decide if the safe life she built in the city is truly the one she wants.

A sweet, heartwarming small-town romance quick read that can be enjoyed during your lunch break or across a quiet evening.
