About this audiobook

An epic dark fantasy for fans of The Witcher, Princess Mononoke, and Game of Thrones, following a deadly half-elf warrior caught between warring kingdoms, ancient magic, and the terrifying return of forest demons awakening a hidden power within her.

She’s the weapon no one saw coming.

Wren has always known the cost of survival. Hidden away by her elven father, she was trained to fight. Trained to flee. Trained to vanish.

When he’s murdered, she follows his final order—burn everything and run.

But she is thrust into a world she was never prepared to face—and entangled in the return of the forest demons, creatures of earth and soul thought lost to time. She has dreamed of them. She can sense them. And when she begins to destroy them, something inside her starts to change.

As kings and councils hunt for answers, and enemies seek to claim her power, Wren is swept into a storm of suspicion and ancient rivalries—caught between shifting alliances and magic no one fully understands but all seek to control. Because the demons aren’t just rising.

I loved this book when I read the physical copy but the audiobook takes it to another level. Carlotta Brenton narrates this story brilliantly and really brings the story to life. It feels so rich and immersive. I honestly couldn't stop listening. I loved it. I can't wait to do an immersive reread. Highly recommend listening to this audiobook. I had the huge privilege of listening to an advanced listener copy. Huge thanks to Tracy Leonard Nakatani and Simon Maverick Books. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own and voluntarily given.

I really enjoyed listening to A Bird Among Wolves. The story drew me into the world of Norvera and kept me interested as Wren became caught up in the growing conflict between elves, humans, and gods. The return of the ancient forest demons and the mysterious Nagendron/Forest Walkers made the story feel especially intriguing and unpredictable. There’s a great mix of fantasy, adventure, suspense, and mystery, and I enjoyed discovering the world along with Wren rather than having everything immediately explained. There were plenty of moments that made me want to keep listening and find out what would happen next. Overall, this was a 5-star audiobook for me and a really enjoyable fantasy adventure. If you enjoy imaginative fantasy worlds with mysterious creatures, ancient forces, and plenty of danger, this is definitely worth checking out.
