One of the most well-known writings of seventeenth-century Puritan minister Richard Baxter, The Saints’ Everlasting Rest will serve as an inspirational, meditative guide to the afterlife.

After many years of working to reform the Church of England, Richard Baxter faced an unexpected, serious illness during which he carried out an intense theological exploration of the afterlife and heaven. The humble approach in his writings reflects his life as a Nonconformist leader in the church. His ponderings on heaven, our ability to understand it, and the nature of it will help you prepare for the unknown and encourage a deeper devotion to God.

Acerca del autor

Richard Baxter (1615–1691) was a prominent English churchman and peacemaker who sought unity among Protestants. Born in Rowton to parents who undervalued education, he was largely self-taught. At age twenty-three he was ordained into the Church of England. Baxter became even better known for his prolific writing, with more than two hundred works to his name. His devotional classic, The Saints’ Everlasting Rest, was one of the most widely read books of the century. When asked what deviations should be permitted from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, he created an entirely new one, Reformed Liturgy, in two weeks. His autobiography and his pastoral guide, The Reformed Pastor, are still widely read today.

James Patrick Cronin began his audiobook career at twelve years of age opposite Christopher Lloyd in The Pagemaster. An Earphones Award–winning narrator, he has recorded over one hundred audiobooks across an extensive range of genres. A classically trained stage actor with an MFA from the University of Louisville and a degree in philosophy, he has spent his years since college performing as an actor and a comedian on stages all over the world. He has performed everything from the classics to original material in Ireland, Scotland, Serbia, and Israel, as well as all across the United States.
