Life witnesses the creation of a visionary painting only to discover it hides a dark truth of how her once lover Time has betrayed her and her sister Death. One of Life's favourites, a young sassy Taiwanese-American artist Cat Chen-Monroe arrives to take a summer job with Mama Hugginbottom in the The Happy Pub, but all is not as it seems in this surreal sleepy seaside village which may or may not exist.

Salena Godden returns with an audacious second novel set in the Mrs Death Misses Death world, inviting us into the heart of an allegorical tale of conflict and contradiction, a parable of good and evil, a time-travelling trip into the mirrored realms of dream and nightmare, interweaving fact and fiction, and the very real human cost of avarice and greed. Ultimately can Life and Death heal old sibling rivalries, as Love is lost, and as Hope is in desperate need of all of our attention and care.
