About this audiobook

Stephanie Burgis delivers another irreverent, sparkling, and sexy installment in the Queens of Villainy series, where a seductive fae queen meets her unexpected match in the enemy empire's valiant general.

Queen Lorelei is a notorious fae seductress, with a trail of broken hearts in her wake. But behind her glamorous lifestyle and sparkling mask lurks a dangerously intelligent woman who’d do anything to keep her people safe, including kidnap the empire’s most famous hero.

The virtuous high general Gerard de Moireul represents all that is moral and true. He has to, after his parents were executed for treason. The last thing he needs is the Queen of Balravia, who showers glitter and rainbow-colored sparkles everywhere she goes without the slightest regard for good taste, decorum, or royal dignity.

They’re opposites in every way, but when they're swept up together in a grand—and deadly—fae tournament, they discover all of each other’s most hidden truths and how perfectly they might be suited for each other after all.

what a delightful read. --- ⭐4 🌶️2.5 If you haven't read the first book, you still shouldn't have any issues reading this one. It's pretty easy to catch on to what's going on and who people are; you'll just be missing a little backstory on the side characters of this particular story. Queen Lorelei was such a fun character to spend time with. She's sassy and unapologetic; the fact that this is called the "Queens of Villainy" series cracks me up because Lorelai isn't really villainy. She's moreso a little trickster, but with good intentions--even if they are hidden ones. Gerard was the perfect pairing for her; challenging her right back and being able to counter what she throws at him. The romance between the two made them the perfect whole. This book follows Lorelei, and it opens up to their "meet-cute." Yeah, that's what we'll call it. Where Queen Lorelai sets her sights on the notorious high general Gerard de Moireul. A challenge is initiated, and Queen Lorelai spends many years creating much mischief for Gerard. Except now that mischief has turned to kidnapping because she needs him to see the truth. Except, things don't go as expected and now they are swept up into a deadly fae tournament and must work together.
