Robert Leckie (1920–2001) was a U.S. Marine, journalist, and one of America’s most compelling military writers. Serving with the legendary 1st Marine Division, Leckie fought in Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, and Peleliu before being wounded and sent home. Those brutal frontline experiences became the foundation of a writing career distinguished by vivid realism, narrative power, and deep respect for the ordinary fighting man. Over the course of his career, Leckie authored more than forty books, bringing battles, soldiers, and military turning points to life with the authority of a veteran and the skill of a born storyteller.
