Deep within the mountain caves, surrounded by survivors who view her as a parasitic monster, Wanderer begins to understand the messy, beautiful complexity of humanity. Guided by the protective rebel Ian and haunted by the grief of Cassandra’s lover Trevor, Wanderer is caught between her loyalty to her species and her growing devotion to her host. Ultimately, she must make a definitive choice: remain a conqueror, or risk her own existence to return Cassandra's life to her.
