(This review is for the eBook, not the audio) The first 7 books of this series have had their share of twists & turns & wild reveals, yet somehow, thus far, book 8 takes the cake! After a fun Halloween evening, Fred & Watson stay behind at The Cozy Corgi Bookstore after hours as Fred wants to spend some time in her favorite area to read. A dream come true turns into a nightmare when Fred wakes up, realizes she & Watson must have dozed off, & voices in the store wake her. The past of the location of the bookstore haunts Fred & reveals who some of the poachers are that Leo has been trying to stop since book 1. The very next morning, one of the poachers turns up dead. Someone is arrested, but did they do it? The Scooby Gang work to unravel the mystery. As this one unwinds, I was •NOT• prepared for who the monster is. I can't wait to dive into book 9, "Malevolent Magic"! Well, after this shocker, maybe I'm a little hesitant to jump in. I'm not sure I could handle another huge reveal!
