About this audiobook

A sweeping enemies-to-lovers romantasy about a princess forced into marriage with a ruthless stormwielding commander, where forbidden desire, court intrigue, rebellion, and devastating secrets collide in a high-stakes standalone perfect for fans of Callie Hart, Devney Perry, and Carissa Broadbent. **Contains brand new, never-before-heard material!!**

She was raised to hate him. Now she shares his bed.
Princess Mayah of Tundrayn isn’t allowed to want. Not freedom. Not love. Not even her own future. Instead, she’s spent her life healing others’ pain and swallowing her own. But when her father strikes a fragile alliance with enemy-kingdom Arbinj to crush a rising rebellion, she is bartered into a marriage she didn’t choose for a crown she doesn’t want.

She expects a prince. She gets the Dark Commander.
Zevayr is ruthless, unyielding, and a stormwielder with a reputation soaked in blood. He is everything Mayah was taught to fear. Yet as they race across rebel-torn lands, the less certain she is of where the monster ends and where the man begins.

In Arbinj’s glittering courts, the Rebellion surges and dangerous secrets stir from Mayah’s past—secrets that could shatter her kingdom, and her heart, if she lets them.

The question is not if Mayah will betray, but who: her people, her love, or herself?

I loved every second of it. I must say that the first half of the book was a vibe. I was cruising — enjoying the view, eating my snacks, smiling to myself, and demanding these two would spend a lot more time together. Then, while I blinked, things were set aflame. The second half of this standalone is A RIDE! Everything comes crashing down, and I took every hit and said, “Please & Thank You!” Sure, I had to stop and take a moment to compose myself when we hit the 55%. Sure, I was a wreck. Sure, I was as heartbroken as them all. But I was also ready to give Leena Kazak anything she asked for. This was done so well that I’m still in awe. And to pull all of that in one book only?! We must protect Kazak at all costs and hope she will never decide to quit writing. Please, go enjoy this audio because the narration is 10/10.

This book gets a good 4.5 stars from me. So I'm going to try and make this review without spoilers, which is going to be hard because most everything is a spoiler. Ok, so we have our MFC who is betrothed to another kingdom in order join them in alliance. She is escorted by the betrothed brother (our MMC) to be delivered to the new to her kingdom. On the way to the new to her kingdom, they run into trouble and then have to have a journey to new to her kingdom. Some things happen is all I am going to say there. Then they arrive and then instead of her marrying the betrothal, something else happens. Then we learn more truths about our MFC and that put some shock into the story (again can't say much because of spoilers). So there was some things that were predictable but most were not..... The truths in the last 30% ish shocked me. I get that this is a stand alone but there are some things I think can be expanded on to create more. Like with the powers. Also this is some of the slowest burn in a book I've read in a hot min.... Like slow burn extreme! If you like forced proximity, some definite what the what moments, and I didn't see that coming, then you need this book. It's a great book and I wish I could give more of a review but I can't because anything more than what I said would be spoilers. OH also the beginning of this book gave me Shield of Sparrow vibes..... IYKYK. Thank you to Leena for selecting me to review this book. I would have finished it in 1 day if it wouldn't have been for adulting
