About this audiobook

John Saul is at his terrifying best as he takes readers into the vast, dark labyrinth of tunnels beneath Manhattan, home to a bizarre collection of outcasts, and introduces a secret society that uses (and stocks) this underworld as a private hunting ground, with its residents as their prey.

When twenty-one year old NYU student Jeff Converse is convicted of a brutal rape and murder that he did not commit, his nightmare has just begun. Jeff is just the latest innocent man to be made a target of the society that controls that underground hell—the Manhattan Hunt Club. A prestigious club near Wall Street, its membership includes many of the city's political and financial elite. Bored with more conventional sport, some of the MHC members can't resist secretly indulging their desire to hunt the most dangerous game in the world—humans.

About the author

Saul has several major themes in his horror fiction; children as victims, and sometimes perpetrators, of evil; technology used for horrific ends; and occult occurrences (is it something external or internal that causes the horrible things to happen to his characters?). While Saul's earlier work has been noted for its extremely gruesome quality, in his later writing Saul is trying to restrain that aspect of his fiction. Often his plots revolve around hidden, secret evil that is discovered by an innocent person, who must then battle against seemingly impossible odds to defeat the demon. David Daoust spent several years working in radio at WBOC-Radio and TV in Salisbury, Maryland. He currently resides in Northern Michigan and teaches media-related courses, and every now and then takes on a chance to act on the stage.
