About this audiobook

Instant New York Times Bestseller!

After a shocking accident, Silas Tucker’s legendary football career is suddenly over in this action-packed sports thriller powered by loyalty, competition, and family.

“Fascinating ... deeply American ... the story of a town that needs a different kind of hero. The plot is so propulsive, it blows you away. This is a great one.” ―Morning Joe

After surviving a shocking accident and a brush with fame, Silas Tucker returns to his backwoods hometown. Cross Rivers, North Carolina, is where he fell in love with a local girl—and where his father was murdered by the roadside. Now Silas is pulled into a deadly battle with the Southern Mafia crime ring aiming to destroy not only his past but his future.

His unbreakable rule: don’t ride these country roads alone.

"No character is safe in this novel ... a small-town crime thriller that makes for a truly unique read.” ―Bookreporter

It's very seldom that I give up on a book (maybe two or three times in my life?), but I gave up on this one after 44 chapters. Based on the first 44 chapters, this book should be titled, "Regrets of Former Football Star." The plot is so remarkably slow paced, any murders seemed a distant second compared to talking about his football days or how much he missed his father. Even worse? The Southern drawl accent of the narrator since much of the story is told in the 1st person. I'm from the South. I travel through-out the South. I'm used to hearing a Southern accent, but this started grating on my nerves.

THE COUNTRY ROAD MURDERS, Audiobook - I enjoyed listening to this audiobook with the multiple interesting story lines, interesting characters, and all the happenings. Just when you think that's it, there's plenty more coming. I usually am happy with the books written by these two authors. Of course, being an audiobook improves everything written. The narrator Tom Pelphrey is perfect for this story. I love the accent for Silas, and Pelphrey's performance of emotions and happenings. He reminds me
