Fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen - The Farm-yard Cock and the Weather-Cock
About this audiobook
In this sharp and quietly humorous tale from Hans Christian Andersen, two very different cocks stand as symbols of pride, purpose, and perception.
One struts loudly in the farmyard, admired by hens and convinced of his own greatness. The other sits high above on the rooftop—a weather-cock—silent, distant, and certain of his superiority. When a storm shakes the world around them, each remains exactly what he is.
But which one truly matters?
“The Farm-Yard Cock and the Weather-Cock” is a classic Andersen fable that blends gentle satire with timeless insight. Through wit and simplicity, it explores ego, usefulness, and the difference between being seen and actually serving a purpose.
Narrated with warmth and clarity by Kris Keppeler, this short story captures the enduring charm of Andersen’s storytelling—inviting listeners of all ages to reflect, smile, and decide for themselves.
