A Story

In this haunting and deeply moving tale, Hans Christian Andersen weaves a powerful contrast between the serenity of the natural world and the heavy burdens of the human soul. A Story follows an earnest pastor whose thunderous sermons warn of eternal punishment—yet outside his church, the world is radiant with warmth, blossoms, birdsong, and the quiet kindness of creation.

When tragedy strikes and his beloved wife passes away, the pastor’s rigid beliefs are challenged in a profound and unforgettable way. One night, the gentle spirit of his wife appears and leads him on a supernatural journey through the lives of sinners—revealing the fears, wounds, and humanity hidden behind every dark deed. Through this humbling vision, he confronts the limits of judgment and the boundless depth of compassion.

A timeless blend of moral allegory, spiritual reflection, and ethereal storytelling, A Story invites listeners to reconsider mercy, forgiveness, and the divine spark within every person.

Narrated with grace and emotional clarity by Michele Wagner, this classic Andersen tale resonates as strongly today as it did more than a century ago.
