About this audiobook

A riveting slow burn debut romantasy about morally grey, grief-fuelled, self-destructive, sarcastic young woman who enters deadly trials in the hopes of bringing her boyfriend back from the land of the deal, only to find herself torn between her true love and the King of the Fallen, perfect for fans of ACOTAR, Suzanne Collins, Sarah J. Maas, and Rebecca Yarros.

Officially, Cassandra competes for a wish. Secretly, she has another agenda.

But the Court is more than a stage for bloodsport. Contestants are permitted to live, work, and roam among the Fallen Fae between trials. Seeking distraction, Cass accepts a post as assistant to Kieran, the King of the Fallen.

She wants to use him for the trials, and he finds her defiance amusing.

This was absolutely amazing! Getting to hear the magic of the Court come to life was so enchanting. Even though I had already read the book and knew what was coming, listening to it was an entirely new experience. The voice actors did a brilliant job of breathing life into the characters and showing off the different personalities just through their voices. I especially loved hearing the sassiness and snark of Cassie—it was spot on! One little thing that I think would improve it would be dual narration. It would have been so good to hear more of the male voice actor throughout, rather than just the few chapters near the end of Keiran's POV. While I may always prefer a physical book, having the opportunity to listen to this ALC has opened up a new way to re-experience those special favorites!

What really impressed me was how immersive this listening experience was. The narration elevates the story in a way that feels intentional and emotionally grounded, giving weight to quieter moments while letting the tension build naturally. The worldbuilding translates beautifully to audio, and the characters feel vivid and purposeful without ever drifting into melodrama. Every choice matters, every moment feels earned, and nothing relies on shock value to keep you engaged. If you’re someone who loves audiobooks that feel cinematic but still intimate, this one absolutely delivers. It’s the kind of listen that makes you look for excuses to keep your headphones in just a little longer. No spoilers here, but this is a story that lingers, the kind that quietly settles in and refuses to be forgotten once the final chapter ends.
