About this audiobook
Shadows on the Platform is a gripping historical novel set in late 1938 Germany, following the lives of Zora, Emil and their travelling Romani clan as they confront growing persecution under Nazi rule. Tense, intimate scenes portray family loyalty, small acts of defiance and the mounting fear that follows orders from the authorities. Richly drawn period detail brings to life police stations, campgrounds and uneasy towns, while the viewpoint of resilient young protagonists creates an accessible, human perspective on a fraught moment in history. Readers who seek character-driven wartime fiction about marginalized communities and survival will find this a moving, thought-provoking read.
