Born in Bristol, England, and now residing in Perth, Western Australia. Shortly after arriving in Australia, in the early 1980's David and his family moved to Karratha in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. He enjoyed the rugged and sometimes unpredictable environment and like many transient workers at the time found once they left the comradery, spirituality, and freedom of the Pilbara they kept being mysteriously being drawn back. From an early age David had always been a musician and songwriter performing with many bands in the UK and he continued his music interest in Australia. After leaving the Pilbara, David eventually established an international business consultancy aptly named Spinifex International after the Pilbara region. Throughout his business career, David has always tried to engage in music wherever he has been in the world. His work as an international business consultant covered Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Vietnam, playing a key role in setting up and restructuring a diverse range of large companies. A musician, singer, and songwriter since his teenage years in England, David has performed and recorded internationally with a wide variety of bands. In Australia, he was a founding member of the Mesa Band (www.mesaband.com.au) and has written and recorded many songs about the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Two songs-Fly In, Fly Out and Kanaji Binbaku-gained notable success and other songs have been used in international tourism promotions. David also wrote and recorded four songs in English to help promote Vietnam tourism. Recorded in Sydney and Saigon, a CD, called Hello Vietnam was released in 2013, and sold over 10,000 copies. He was the first foreigner to have his songs approved for performance in Vietnam by the Hanoi based Ministry of Arts and Culture. Now semi-retired, David continues to facilitate the occasional business connection between Western Australia and Vietnam and will soon return to performing regularly with the Mesa Band. He has also recently, started his research with a view to writing a follow up to Mangadoo.
