My opinion of the book is that the two main characters portrayed the Crown Prince as a terrible father figure, when I didn't feel that was truly the case. Yes, the young boy is a child and should be allowed to enjoy his childhood, but I felt that the two characters were overly protective and coddled him. By making decisions for him and limiting his relationship with his father, they risked raising a future king who may struggle to become a strong and independent leader. Although I believe their intentions were good, I didn't agree with the way they handled the situation, and I didn't particularly like their characters because of it.
