The FUTÁR application by BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has been renewed under the name BudapestGO, which, in addition to real-time route planning, has been extended with new functions: you can buy digital single tickets, daily and weekly travelcards or passes in the application and you can also be informed immediately about the current transport service changes. You can use the route planner with a cleaner and clearer interface, facilitated by a number of new features.

New features in the app:
- Ticket and pass purchase, journey planning in a single app
- Digital single ticket now also available
- Automatic pass renewal
- Traffic information (BKK Info application integrated)
- Personalised transport updates via push message
- Trip planning for trains and suburban railways available with a BKK-pass

App is inconsistent; twice it would not validate monthly passes when boarding a bus, and once it randomly thought my pass was attached to another device (I don't have another device). Walking home with a 4 year old wasn't fun. Fare apps need to be 100% consistent and this app just isn't. Stick with paper passes and tickets unless you want to risk being kicked off at the bus stop.

As a tourist in Budapest for a week I don't know what all the other negative reviews are on about. It's sufficiently easy to make an account, get tickets (including 100E airport shuttle). Yes, you need to validate tickets with the scanner (that's fine some countries do it) As a tourist using it for metro, tram, bus, it's perfectly usable. I thought the reviews were a warning and to find alternative ways of getting tickets but no, the app is more than good enough.

i tried adding my billing address to this app on my Google pixel 7 phone, but I kept getting "unknown error! (403)", even when I tried in Canada, Germany & hungary. I also couldn't see a list of passes to buy & the BudapestGO staff at Budapest airport couldn't figure out why. I finally just bought paper tickets at the BudapestGO ticket machine there & that worked great! tourists: consider just getting the pest county pass (unltd transit with Budapest) & return tickets for the airport shuttle.
